Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) has confirmed that she will not be in the upcoming “The Avengers” film, despite being a major supporting character in the Iron Man franchise.

Paltrow, who was doing a press junket for the film Country Strong, was asked by Steve Weintraub from Collider.com if she was involved in the superhero team-up film and she replied with the following:

“No. No Pepper,” said Paltrow, who was then asked with a follow up if this was a ‘for sure’ or ‘maybe.’ “I think it’s a for sure. I think they’re starting shooting soon and they probably would have asked me by now,” she said.

The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon, stars Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner, and has a scheduled May 4, 2012 release date.

Mark Ruffalo has laughed off reports suggesting he was placed on a terror advisory list, insisting the speculation has escalated into a “fantastical” story. The “Shutter Island” star was said to have been added to a terror alert watchlist after hosting screenings for GasLand, a documentary about natural gas drilling, in September.

The actor has shrugged off the reports, insisting he hasn’t encountered any problems while traveling.

He tells the Wall Street Journal, “I’ve never been stopped at the airport and I think that the story has snowballed into this incredibly fantastical thing. At the center, of course, is one small grain of truth, which is that back in September, I was hosting educational screenings of GasLand. Pennsylvania’s Homeland Security was monitoring these screenings and feeding information to the gas industry.”

Mark Ruffalo is adjusting well to the grueling training he is undergoing for his shirt-ripping new role as The Hulk – because he was once a high-school wrestling champ. The 42-year-old actor is set to replace Edward Norton as Dr. Bruce Banner and his monstrous alter-ego in upcoming superhero movie “The Avengers,” and is already eating plenty and working out to get in shape.

But Ruffalo has been through the pain of toning up his body before – he followed in his dad’s footsteps and won medals as a student wrestler. He tells E! Online:

“They (film bosses) want me mean and lean, but they don’t want me big and buff. I gotta keep building and building and building. You have to eat to build muscle. I was a wrestler. I’m used to starving myself. It’s easy for me. The last two weeks you just walk around spitting into a cup.”

We’ve all exaggerated our resumes a bit to get a job. But actor Mark Ruffalo took this bad habit way too far – and nearly paid the price with his life. On ‘Late Late Show’ (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Ruffalo revealed that he lied to director Ang Lee, to get a part in the film “Ride With the Devil.” The name of the movie gives a clue as to what happened next.

The film was a Western drama set during the Civil War. As such, it involved horseback riding. Lots of horseback riding. Lots of dangerous horseback riding. Hence – ‘Ride With the Devil.’ Unfortunately, Mark lied about knowing how to ride a horse. He doesn’t know how to do that. At all.

During his first attempt at horseback-related acting, Ruffalo took things too far again. He jumped into the saddle, kicked the sides of the horse and yelled “Yaaaah!” Bad idea.

Ruffalo’s steed then took him on a “wild” ride through the woods. Mark held on while the animal galloped madly towards trees; he kept ducking to avoid the potentially deadly branches. “The thing … tried to kill me,” the actor said. Apparently, Mark got some (very brief) training after lying his way onto the movie. But the one thing he hadn’t been taught about horseback riding was “how to stop it.” Which is really the most important thing to learn.

But Mark survived, and his reward was to receive a brief guilt-trip from Craig Ferguson. “You lied to Ang Lee?” the host said. Ruffalo buried his head in his hands for a second: ” … I’m sorry, Ang.”
