Recently elaborating on his career with the U.K.’s Independent, British actor Tom Hiddleston surely discussed his ‘God Of Mischief’ reprisal as ‘Loki’ in Marvel and Joss Whedon’s superhero phenomenon flick The Avengers. Take a look below at what Tom called a ‘surreal’ experience:
“There was one day when, as Loki, I was sat on some steps, staring at the Avengers in front of me. It would be quite odd just to look at a grouping that involves [such actors as] Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Samuel L Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth. But the fact that they were dressed in the most outlandish hero costumes was bizarre! And I thought to myself, ‘This is the dizzy heights.’”

Joss Whedon has assembled a world-class team of superheroes for The Avengers, but on the New Mexico set the writer-director was more in touch with his inner supervillain, according to Tom Hiddleston, who plays the evil Loki in the film.
“The brain power is astonishing and he’s always giggling about something,” the British actor said of Whedon. “He has this intermittently generous and supportive side as a director but I also think as an artist he has a really dark sense of humor. He kept telling me how much fun he had writing Loki. He steps inside the villains in a way that he doesn’t with the heroes.
“Joss gets really excited, I love hearing him giggle from behind the monitor,” Hiddleston said. “It’s almost like he’s hiding behind his own giggles. He’s lost a lot of weight during this film. There was one scene where Robert Downey Jr. has to fall to floor and we were trying to work out how to do the film and trying to work out how extreme it should be and Joss came over and said, ‘I think it should be like this,’ and he just hurled himself at the floor headfirst. I was like, ‘Buddy, are you OK? We could pad you up before you do that!’ But he went up in my estimation after that.”
Last week, MovieWeb.com reported The Avengers cinematographer Seamus McGarvey used an iPhone to shoot certain scenes in the big-budget superhero tale. It seems the director of photography was misquoted, and clarified what he meant in a recent interview. Take a look at what he had to say below.
“I was talking about how up and coming film makers have access to a whole range of new technologies which expand our options as filmmakers. I mentioned that the iPhone and the Canon 5d Mk2 were devices currently used on many Hollywood productions. I used the Canon on some shots on Marvel’s The Avengers movie. Unfortunately, this was edited to read that I shot some of the film with the iPhone. This is not true.”
Walt Disney Pictures, which is distributing The Avengers, also confirmed that no shots were filmed using an iPhone on the superhero ensemble. The outlet which originally ran the Seamus McGarvey interview, Irish Film and Television Network, did not respond to the allegations of misquoting, but they did remove The Avengers remark from their interview.

If you’ve seen Be Kind Rewind, you’ll be familiar with the term “Sweded”. It’s a hilariously poorly put together remake, which is EXACTLY what this fan made trailer for The Avengers is! “So this is basically Iron Man 3, right?” Take a look below:
Mark talks briefly about the upcoming film, The Avengers and what Marvel has done for other films. Take a look below at the short interview below:
The Avengers is currently in post-production, with a release date set for May 4, 2012. Even though this is a big-budget ensemble, some scenes were shot in an unconventional way, using an iPhone 4. Take a look at what director of photography Seamus McGarvey had to say about using the iPhone for several shots seen in The Avengers, some of which actually made it into the trailer.
“The beauty of photography or cinema is that you make every choice based on the content at hand. On The Avengers, I did a couple of shots on the iPhone and they are in the movie. In fact, they are in the trailer! I understand that sometimes there is no choice and you have to go for the cheapest option, but if you are limited for choice, you can still make poignant decisions that will effect the look of the film.”
The cinematographer didn’t reveal which shots were crafted using the smart phone, but it doesn’t seem like there is any difference in quality throughout the trailer.

It was so loved, in fact, that it was downloaded more than 10 million times in the first 24 hours that it was available on iTunes, Marvel Studios announced. This shattered the iTunes site’s previous record for most viewed trailer in the site’s history.
The superhero ensemble film, which opens in theaters on May 4, 2012, features an all-star superhero cast, including Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) returns as the S.H.I.E.L.D. leader who will guide the world-savers in a battle against Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
The trailer gave fans the first longer-than-a-blink look at the weaponry and suits of the superhero pack, along with a peek into the interactions between the characters. Hint: Tony Stark is still a smart ass. (Source)

Marvel has announced that they’ll be releasing the first trailer for The Avengers on Tuesday. Since the movie is still seven months away, I imagine there will be more title cards and graphics than actual footage, but one can hope. More than anything, I’m curious to see how Joss Whedon’s take on the Marvel Universe will differ from previous directors if at all. We know that Whedon can handle the dialogue and character relationships, but aside from Serenity, his directing experience is for the small screen and The Avengers is a movie with an epic scope.
The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson. The Avengers opens in 3D on May 4, 2012. (Source)
